Frequently asked questions

The questions we get asked most

Referrals, funding, home visits and what actually happens when you get started. If your question is not here, just ask us.

Do I need a referral to see you?

For most people, no. You can contact us directly for Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy or Podiatry. A referral is only required in specific cases: Medicare rebates need a GP-issued Chronic Disease Management plan, and DVA clients need a referral from their GP. NDIS participants and privately funded clients can book without one.

Do you come to me, or do I come to the clinic?

Both. Our clinic is at 1/19 Railway Parade, Darra, and we also travel to you. Home, community and school visits are a core part of how we work, because seeing someone in their own environment usually tells us far more than a clinic room does.

Which areas do you service?

We cover Brisbane and the surrounding regions, including Logan, Ipswich, Redlands, Moreton Bay and the northern Gold Coast. If you are just outside these areas, contact us anyway and we will let you know what is possible.

What funding do you work with?

We work with self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants, aged care clients including Support at Home, Medicare rebates for eligible clients on a GP care plan, private health funds with on-the-spot HICAPS claiming, and private paying clients. We are not currently an NDIS-registered provider, so we cannot invoice the NDIA directly for agency-managed participants.

How do I make a referral?

Use the referral form on our Referrals page, or call or email us and we will walk you through it. Referrals are welcome from participants and families themselves, support coordinators, case managers, GPs and other health professionals. Once we receive it, our team will be in touch to confirm the details and organise a first visit.

What happens at the first appointment?

The first session is about understanding you, not running through a checklist. We talk about what is working, what is not, and what you actually want to be able to do. From there we complete any assessment that is needed and agree on goals together. You are welcome to have a family member, carer or support worker with you.

What is an Allied Health Assistant, and why does it cost less?

An Allied Health Assistant carries out therapy programs designed and supervised by your Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or Podiatrist. Because they work under delegation, their hourly rate is lower, so your funding stretches further. It means more frequent, more consistent support between clinician sessions rather than fewer sessions overall.

Do you see children?

Yes. Our Occupational Therapists work with children and young people, and we can see them at home, at school or in the community depending on what suits the family and the goals we are working on.

Can you write reports for NDIS plan reviews?

Yes. We complete Functional Capacity Assessments, SIL and SDA assessments, home modification reports, assistive technology reports and progress reports for plan reviews. Let us know your review date when you refer so we can plan the timing with you.

How long will I have to wait to get started?

It depends on the service, your location and current demand. Rather than promise a timeframe we cannot guarantee, we will tell you honestly where things stand when you contact us, and let you know if another option would get you seen sooner.

What if I need more than one service?

That is common, and it is one of the reasons we run several disciplines under one roof. If you are seeing our Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist, they talk to each other. You should not have to be the go-between for your own care team.

How do I give feedback or make a complaint?

Contact us directly by phone or email and we will take it seriously. If you would rather raise it externally, NDIS participants can contact the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, and aged care clients can contact the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

Still have a question?

Give us a call or send a referral and our team will talk it through with you.

Still have a question?

If your question is not answered here, call us. We would rather spend five minutes on the phone than have you guess.
